I live in St. Johns, Oregon. A beautiful area of Portland named for the St. Johns bridge. It is a lovely bridge that opened in June of 1931. You know that the residents love the bridge because you see the iconic bridge top around the neighborhood and beyond. The images from the Oregon Historical Society of the opening in 1931 grace the walls of S
t. John’s Starbucks, t-shirts in gift shops, yard art and numerous photos in shops around the city.
Equally lovely below the bridge, Cathedral Park, and from this picture you will see the inspiration for the name.
In the evenings when I walk the dogs there can be a surprise around every corner. With the stormy spring we’ve had on one walk I saw rainbows, doves and a duck.
